Kambo Healing Benefits

Working With Kambo

Meridian Lines

In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), meridians are internal energy pathways running through the body which energetically connects the body’s organs and subsystems. Each energetic channel is punctuated by points which are used in healing techniques such as acupuncture and acupressure.

When we stimulate these points, we can influence the flow of energy through the organs that the channels pass through. If the energy running through a particular organ is blocked or weak, the organ will develop problems. Through precise positioning of kambo points, we can strengthen or even open up the flow of energy. This can increase the intensity of the kambo experience and many people even feel unusual sensations In their limbs and organs after a meridian treatment. This is the energy flowing again after being unblocked.

This technique of applying kambo to meridian points was pioneered by a floral therapist and acupuncturist Sonia Maria Valencia Menezes who worked with the Katukina developing her methods for many years. The technique was picked up by non-native practitioners and expanded from there.

  • Lung Meridian: Is the intake of Qi energy from the air for use by the body and to build up resistance against any external intrusions. It also eliminates gasses that are not needed in the body through exhalation.

  • Large Intestine Meridian: This meridian helps the function of the lung and secretes and excretes from inside and outside of the body. It also eliminates the stagnation of Qi energy.

  • Spleen Meridian: Is involved in digestion and the process of fermentation. In modern terms, the spleen is considered as being the pancreas and the pancreas governs general digestion and reproductive hormones related to the breasts and ovaries. Mental fatigue has a negative effect on the spleen and a lack of exercise will cause problems with digestion and with the secretion of hormones.

  • Stomach Meridian: This meridian is involved in the functioning of the stomach, oesophagus, and duodenum as well as the functioning of the reproductive, lactation, ovary, and appetite mechanism. It is also involved in the menstrual cycle.

  • Heart Meridian: This represents compassion and thus governs emotions and the spirit. It is also responsible for the circulation of the blood and the total body though the brain and the five senses. This meridian is also the mechanism that adapts external stimulation to the body’s internal environment.

  • Small Intestine Meridian: The small intestine governs the total body through the displacement and digestion of food. Anxiety, anger, nervous shock, and emotional excitement can affect the circulation of the blood and the small intestine can cause blood stagnation that affects the body as a whole.

  • Kidney Meridian: This meridian controls the spirit and energy to the body and governs resistance against mental stress by controlling hormone secretions. It also detoxifies and purifies the blood.

  • Bladder Meridian: This is related to the mid brain which cooperates with the kidney system and the pituitary gland. It is also connected to the autonomic nervous system and related to the reproductive and urinary organs. It is also responsible for expelling urine.

  • Heart Constrictor (Pericardium) Meridian: This meridian acts as a supplemental function of the heart related to the circulatory system which includes the heart sac, the cardiac arteries, and the system of arteries and veins. It is also responsible for total nutrition.

  • Triple Heater Meridian: This meridian acts as a supplemental function of the small intestine and controls the spirit and visceral organs that circulate energy to the entire body. It also protects the function of the lymphatic system. The upper heart is related to the chest, the middle heart to the solar plexus, and the heart above and below the navel is related to the peritoneum, as well as circulation to the extremities.

  • Gall Bladder Meridian: This meridian distributes nutrients throughout the body and balances the total energy through the help of internal hormones and secretions including bile, saliva, gastric acid, insulin, and intestinal hormones.

  • Liver Meridian: This meridian stores nutrients and energy for physical activities. It also helps resist against disease and supplies, analyses, and detoxifies blood.

  • Governing Vessel: This meridian shares a source with the conception vessel. The governing vessel monitors and directs Chi energy along the Yang channels to the Yang organs – Bladder, Gallbladder, Small Intestine, Large Intestine and Stomach. It flows up the spine.

  • Conception Vessel: This meridian flows up the front of the body and plays a major role in monitoring and directing the Chi circulation in the Yin channels to the Yin organs – Spleen, Pancreas, Lungs, Kidney, Liver and Heart.

Chakras

Chakras are the energy centers of our bodies. Our chakra system is comprised of 7 principal energy centers aligned along the spinal column that distribute Prana throughout the body. Prana is the life energy that performs respiration, oxygenation and circulation and governs all functions of mind, memory, thought and emotion. In a healthy body the energy flow is harmonious, and all the chakras are in equilibrium. In the blocked chakras (similar to a blocked artery), the energy does not flow harmoniously. This results in imbalance of the chakras. An imbalance in the chakras is expressed through these systems in physical and emotional illness. Targeting these chakra points with kambo can help release blockages and restore harmonious pranic energy flow throughout the chakra systems and the body.

  • Root Chakra: Represents our foundation. On the human body, it sits at the base of the spine and gives us the feeling of being grounded. When the root chakra is open, we feel confident in our ability to withstand challenges and stand on our own two feet. When it's blocked, we feel threatened, as if we're standing on unstable ground. It is represented by the color red and controls survival issues such as financial independence, money, and food.

  • Sacral Chakra: Helps inform how we relate to our emotions and the emotions of others. It also governs creativity and sexual energy. Those with a blocked sacral chakra could feel a lack of control in their lives. It is located in lower abdomen, about 2 inches below the navel, represented by the color orange and it controls your sense of abundance, well-being, pleasure, and sexuality.

  • Solar Plexus Chakra: The third chakra, the solar plexus chakra, speaks to your ability to be confident and in control of your life. If your solar plexus chakra is blocked, you might feel overwhelming amounts of shame and self-doubt. Those with open sacral chakras are free to express their true selves. It located about 2 inches above the navel, represented by the color yellow and controls self-worth, self-confidence, and self-esteem

  • Heart Chakra: Is the bridge between the lower chakras (associated with materiality) and the upper chakras (associated with spirituality). As the name suggests, this chakra can influence our ability to give and receive love—from others and ourselves. Someone with a blocked heart chakra will have difficulty fully opening up to the people in their life. If someone's heart is open, they can experience deep compassion and empathy. It is located at the center of chest in the area of the heart and represented by the color green. It controls love, joy, and inner peace

  • Throat Chakra: gives voice to the heart chakra and controls our ability to communicate our personal power. When it's functioning at full capacity, it allows us to express ourselves truly and clearly. Someone with a blocked throat chakra will feel like they have trouble finding the words to say how they truly feel. It is located in the throat, represented by the color light blue. It controls communication, self-expression, and truth.

  • Brow/Third Eye Chakra: Controls our ability to see the big picture and connect to intuition. Think of it as the eye of the soul: It registers information beyond the surface level. Visions and intuitive hits are not uncommon for someone with an open third-eye chakra. It is located between the eyes in the third eye area, represented by the color indigo. It controls intuition, imagination, and wisdom

  • Crown Chakra: the highest chakra, sits at the crown of the head and represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually. When you fully open your crown chakra, you're able to access higher consciousness. It controls inner and outer beauty, spiritual connection. Located on the very top of the head. In Kambo, this point is accessible through the Shen Men Auricular Point on the ears.

Auricular Points

The ears are often said to be a microcosm of the body. Each part of the ear relates to an organ, function, or part of the body. There are several systems of Auricular massage, Acupuncture and Acupressure. A system known as French Auriculotherapy was developed by the French neurologist Paul Nogier who mapped a microsystem of the entire body on the outer portion of the ear in a similar way that Reflexology and Iridology are mapped. Placing kambo on Auricular ear points is an effective way of targeting specific parts of the human body which are otherwise unreachable.
